At&T employee bound, pistol-whipped by robber in Bellmore

An employee at the AT&T store on Bellmore Avenue was attacked, bound and pistol-whipped by a thief, who made off with more than thousands of dollars worth of electronics on Jan. 30.

According to Nassau County police, at 7:57 p.m., the suspect entered the store, where the victim, 24, was working. The suspect, wielding a handgun, forced the employee into a backroom and tied his wrists and ankles together, then took his car keys.

After a struggle trying to open the store’s safe, the suspect hit the employee in the head with his handgun. The suspect eventually opened the safe, and made off with $25,000 in merchandise, escaping in the employee’s car.

The employee was able to free himself eventually and contact police; he was treated at the scene for a head wound.

Police later found the employee’s car, but are still searching for the suspect. According to police, the suspect is a black man, six-foot-two, wearing all black.
