A Baldwin man and Albertson woman were arrested on Friday and charged with selling a substance believed to be heroin and fentanyl in Baldwin, Nassau County Police said.

Jesse Sullivan, a 25 year old from Ann Street in Baldwin, and Samantha Carroll, of 48 Lynton Road, were arrested after an investigation into overdoses in the area, cops said. The investigation was part of Operation Natalia, Nassau’s war against opioids. Police said the duo allegedly sold heroin and fentanyl to a Nassau County resident.

They were scheduled to be arraigned Saturday on charges of criminal possession and sale of a controlled substance in First District Court. The arrest comes five days before the NCPD is scheduled to host a follow-up town hall on its fight against the use and sale of opioid in Baldwin. It will take place at the Baldwin Fire Department, located at 2386 Grand Ave., at 7 p.m.

Baldwin is No. 5 on the NCPD’s list of opioid hotspots. Police officers and health officials have been in the community for the past two months cracking down on drug dealers and working with addicts to put them in treatment programs if needed.

From January 2017 to April 2018, Baldwin saw 43 non-fatal opioid overdoses and six fatal ODs.

Speakers at the July 12 town hall will include experts from the NCPD to talk about narcotics arrests, overdoses, related crimes in the Baldwin area and available treatment options.
