Baldwin High School student Shamari Gerrow, 20, was arrested and charged on March 30 after he allegedly posted a public Snapchat message with a video showing three handguns, as well as a message stating which of the three guns he would bring to school, according to Nassau County police.

After police were contacted, officers went to the school on Thursday and encountered Gerrow, who then ran away from police. During a foot pursuit, officers saw him throw a black handgun into a shopping center dumpster right before he was apprehended around 10:35 a.m.

The handgun, which was recovered, was a black air-powered pistol.

Gerrow was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on school grounds and making a terroristic threat. He was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Friday.
