Captain Jack comes to Seaford

Posted

Seaford residents danced the night away while Captain Jack, a beloved local cover band, played Billy Joel and classic rock tunes at a special concert in the community on July 29.

The show is part of the Seaford Public Library’s annual summer entertainment series, called “Entertainment for a Saturday Evening.”  The Seaford Chamber of Commerce co-sponsored the outdoor concert, which was held in the parking lot next to the library.

Library Director Frank McKenna said that the artists in the summer outdoor concert program range from classic rock to doo-wop to country artists. The final show, slated for Aug. 12, features Jetstream — a band that plays popular tunes from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and today. The Seaford Wellness Council is co-sponsoring the event, which will be held on the lawn in front of the Long Island Rail Road station at 7:30 p.m.

The program also includes a film screening under the stars at the library on Aug. 5, which begins at 8:15 p.m. The library also hosted an outdoor comedy show for the first time on July 22.

Local folks flocked to the Captain Jack show, sitting in lawn chairs while the band played their favorite songs by Long Island’s piano man. Some attendees got out of their chairs to dance to the music.
