Celebrating Easter at the Five Towns Community Center in Lawrence

What happens when you combine nearly 50 children, more than enough cupcakes and a hunt for 600 eggs, golden eggs and a carrot top for prizes, it equals a basket full of fun at the Easter Eggstravaganza at the Five Towns Community Center in Lawrence on April 18.

There was creating and coloring masks, the Easter Bunny and many smiles generated through an event organized by Inwood resident Sasha Young with help from Nerthi Sanchez and several young people.

Easter, this year on April 21, marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ after his crucifixion by the Romans in 1st-century Palestine. The Christian holiday is preceded by Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday, and is on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the northern spring equinox.
