The Astoria Federal Bank in West Hempstead recently selected student Antigha Ekpe Jr. as a winner in its fourth annual essay contest. The students were asked to complete the statement "If I save a lot today, in the future I could ..." and 12-year-old Ekpe said he would save his money so he could visit Italy to learn about a different culture and broaden his knowledge of the world. As a honoree, the West Hempstead resident was presented with a $50 savings bond, a Teach Children to Save certificate and an Education First medal.
