An Elmont man wielding a pitchfork while standing atop the hood of a 27-year-old woman’s car, threatening her has been arrested for attempted robbery on April 4, police said.

Police had received reports that Rigoberto Herrera Luna, 33, of Elmont had been wandering around Belmont Racetrack with a pitchfork, and then later responded to an incident in which he jumped on the hood of a car, while still carrying the pitchfork, and demanded that the 27-year-old female occupant of the car call police. He then reportedly tried to pull her out of the car. He was later found to have had cocaine on him.

When officers arrived, police said, Luna was arrested and charged with second-degree attempted robbery, second-degree menacing, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
