East Meadow School District's budget passes

Residents approved the East Meadow School District’s $199.67 million 2017-18 budget, with 2,123 supporting votes and 532 opposing votes.

The community voted to elect newcomer Alisa Baroukh to the Board of Education, with 1,761 votes of support. Joseph Danenza lost the race, with 780 votes in his favor. During a candidates forum held at the East Meadow Public Library on May 8, David Rosenberg announced his withdrawal from the race, leaving Baroukh and Danenza to compete for the open seat.

Scott Eckers ran unopposed and garnered 2,268 votes.
