East Rockaway man arrested for selling heroin to Lynbrook overdose victim

An East Rockaway man was arrested for drug possession after selling heroin to a Lynbrook resident who suffered a non-fatal overdose, police said.

According to Lynbrook police, Daniel Burkard, 31, who lives on Atlantic Avenue in East Rockaway, was arrested at 8 p.m. on Wednesday for sale of a controlled substance.

Lynbrook police entered the home of the person who overdosed on Tuesday at 4:09 p.m. and administered Narcan before transporting them to the hospital for treatment. Police said they determined Burkard sold the heroin to the overdose victim and pulled him over the next day on Merrick Road at Blossom Heath Avenue.

Burkard was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance.

He was due to be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
