Easter is resurrection day

Posted

Easter has always been resurrection day to me. Resurrection is defined as the concept of coming back to life after death. So that death is not the

end but a new beginning. This new beginning is celebrated by spring

when nature comes back to life and our daylight hours are longer.

Everything points to a new start. That is the greatest news that our

community and moreover our world, needs to embrace.

Easter brings the wonderful news that death, or those things in our lives that may need to die, can lead us into a new life. Even the smallest hurts that we hold onto can snowball into hatred and can separate and divide communities. Much like dust bunnies that accumulate and if not attended to can overtake us. Further, if we allow it, our human state of brokenness can dictate our emotions and how we navigate through things that happen to us. Those are life lessons and our responses to those lessons can be constructive or merely temper tantrums. Do we respond or react to the dust bunnies? We can choose to learn from our experiences or grow into a deeper state of brokenness.

Easter, or resurrection day focuses and compels us to let anything that separates us from loving each other die so that the new life, new relationship, new understandings can be born and bring a new joy to this world. Just like a newborn brings new joy to a family, we are to celebrate one another in a new light and grow into a deeper understanding of a community rooted in love.
