Elmont residents get antiques appraised

More than 20 Elmont residents had their antiques appraised at the library as part of Eddie Costello Sr.’s Antiques Roadshow.

One of the biggest winners of the afternoon was Gabriel Sinagra, who brought a copy of a Pierre-Auguste Renoir painting that Costello valued at $1,800 to $2,000. He also told June Kim that she could get $4,000 for a handmade painting on silk from China’s Chin Dynasty that he said would be “perfect for some doctor’s office,” and appraised a ring with a semi-precious stone in a platinum band at $2,500.

Costello said he was impressed with some of the items people brought in, saying, “I appraise everything that comes to sight” and “usually most of what I see is not valuable.”
