Elmont UFSD, Sewanhaka budgets pass

Voters in the Elmont Union Free School District voted 902 to 292 today to accept the Board of Education's proposed $89.5 million budget. The budget includes a 3.55 percent tax increase. Board members Patrick Emeagwali and Sheldon Meikle were unopposed in the re-election bids. Emeagwali received 703 voles, and Meikle garnered 683 votes.

Voters also assented to Sewanhaka Central High School District's $198.6 million budget on a vote of 2,544 to 1024. The budget includes a 2.87 percent property tax hike.
