Glamour Gals bring beauty to Maple Pointe residents in Rockville Centre

Just in time for Valentines Day, some 30 students from South Side High School, members of its GlamourGals Club, brought free manicures to residents of Maple Pointe Assisted Living on Feb. 8.

GlamourGals is a nationwide, non-profit organization founded by a Long Island high school student, which forms clubs in high schools where young women learn beauty techniques and bring them to retirement communities and nursing homes. Residents get free manicures and beauty treatments and an inter-generational give and take with the young women.

On hand for the recent session was Rockville Centre Mayor Francis Murray and Miss New York International, Adele Scala, both of whom provided encouragement and support for the program.

The GlamourGals chapter from South Side High School visits Maple Pointe several times a year, much to the delight of both the residents and the students.
