A Wantagh man has been charged with firing shots into his neighbor’s garage door last month, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Rocko Fox, 20, was arrested on Aug. 22 in connection with the Wantagh incident and a Levittown burglary last month. The Wantagh victim did not see the bullet holes in the garage of his home on Sarah Drive until Aug. 21, police said, but later learned that another neighbor had video footage of a man firing a handgun at the garage doorframe on July 14.

According to court documents, the victim’s son was home when Fox fired the gun at the house at around 10:30 p.m. “The defendant’s actions showed a depraved indifference to human life,” the criminal complaint stated.

Fox allowed police to search his home on Aug. 21, officials said. Detectives said that they found a safe that had been stolen from a home on Knoll Lane, in Levittown, on July 13.

Police said that Fox broke into the Levittown home through the back door between 1 and 4:30 p.m. According to court documents, he took the safe from a locked bedroom.

There were two semi-automatic weapons inside the safe when it was stolen, but police did not find the guns.

Fox was charged with second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree criminal mischief at his arraignment at First District Court, in Hempstead, on Aug. 22. He was represented by an attorney from the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County, which does not comment on cases.
