Mostly Cloudy Hewlett car crash knocks out power

A multi-car crash on Hewlett Parkway severely damaged a utility pole and resulted in area homes losing power for a brief time on Feb. 10.

The driver of a Porsche that was traveling north on Hewlett Parkway apparently lost control of the vehicle and crashed into two parked cars and a utility that caused the pole to snap and resulted in down wires on Hewlett Parkway and Wheatley Street in Hewlett at 12:50 p.m. on Feb. 10, according to the Nassau police and Hewlett firefighters who responded to the scene.
Power to several homes was affected for a short time and the driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
