Island Park Village Hall open for business

early 100 community members, leaders and elected officials gathered in and outside the Former Bank of America turned Village Hall in Island Park on Nov. 4 for the building’s official ribbon cutting ceremony. The event served dual purposes, as it also fell on the 91st anniversary of the Village of Island Park’s incorporation.

The hall was donated to the village last spring after plans to rebuild a new Village Hall at its original location fell through. The original building was demolished after it was damaged in Hurricane Sandy.

“We’ve come a long way from the days following the storm,” Mayor Michael McGinty said during the ceremony. “We’ve prospered against the odds, and today we take another step forward as we rebuild and revitalize our village, our home, as we come together to dedicate this new village hall to our children, our grandchildren and their children.”

County, town and state officials came out in force for the event.
