JFK Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary

Posted

The JFK Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary offers a serene, beautiful and under-appreciated getaway to Long Islanders. These 500 acres of tidal wetlands provide a home and migratory resting place for waterfowl and many other birds. While it is a quick car ride for most readers of this paper--three miles down Ocean Highway past Jones Beach--I find myself virtually alone when I walk along its trails.

These photos date from '05 to October '15. They are just glimpse of the abundant wildlife and landscapes of that remote, yet accessible tract of preserved nature.

Many more pics at my Flickr site.
