‘Hidden Figures’ screening at the library

The Henry Waldinger Memorial Library will be screening the hit-movie ‘Hidden Figures’ on July 28 at 1 p.m. The movie starts Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae as African-American mathematicians who worked for NASA to help John Glenn get into space. DIY Pokeball at Elmont

Medicare and Medicaid lecture at Elmont

Paul Sapienza and Annabelle Bazante, of Annabel Bazante Law, PPLC, will hold a discussion about Medicare and Medicaid Planning Options at the Elmont Memorial Library on August 1 at 7 p.m. Topics will include Medicare Parts A, B, C and D and how to protect oneself from excessive costs. Step lively to some jazzy tunes

The acclaimed 1920s-era revival band Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks visit Old Westbury Gardens, for the final concert of this year’s Picnic Pops series, on Wednesday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m. (gates open at 6 p.m.) Bring a lawn chair or blanket and some friends, and bandleader Giordano and his ensemble will provide the soundtrack for an enjoyable evening that may even get some folks up on their feet.
