Kiwanis, Borrelli's fundraiser hits record number

The summer heat was no match for East Meadowites eager to hit Eisenhower Park’s golf course to raise money for the annual Steven J. Eisman Memorial Golf Outing on July 17.

The fundraiser, organized by Alan Beinhacker, Debbie Coates and Mike Litzner from the Kiwanis Club of East Meadow and Frank Borrelli, owner of Borrelli’s Italian Restaurant, hit a record fundraising goal of $26,000.

“I think the record number speaks volumes about the East Meadow community and the kindness that lives in our community,” Beinhacker said. “It was once again proven that people in the community are always behind us.”

Beinhacker said that a total of 130 players teed off on the red course and enjoyed lunch, drinks and golf carts throughout the day. Borrelli’s later hosted a dinner at its East Meadow restaurant, attracking more than 50 people.

“I think the people in East Meadow should be very proud of what the Kiwanis does for the community,” Beinhacker said. “All of the money goes back to the community either through scholarships or food baskets during the holidays. The Kiwanis helps people who are in need most and it will continue to do so. All of this is thanks to the golf outing.”

Beinhacker said he hopes next year will top this year’s record number.
