Learning about Passover: honoring a longtime member

Posted

The Kiwanis Club of the Five Towns annual model Seder at Woodro Kosher Restaurant and Caterers in Hewlett on April 6 served a twofold purpose.

Temple Hillel Rabbi Steven Graber conducted the Passover meal and explained the symbols of the eight-day Jewish holiday such as matzo, maror and chazeret and charoset.

The model Seder also served as a celebration of longtime Kiwanis member Ponte Teramo’s contributions to the organization that fundraises to provide scholarships for high school students attending college, the Five Towns Early Learning Center in Inwood, veterans programs, families who have children suffering from medical issues, and helps others in need as well.
