Fireworks lit the nighttime sky in Greis Park on Sunday at the conclusion of Lynbrook’s Patriots’ Day, an annual event that honors veterans on the eve of Memorial Day.

In addition to the fireworks show, the event was highlighted by Mayor Alan Beach’s picnic, a VIP tent for veterans and a magic show performed by John Turdo.

Beach was also in attendance, while The American Bombshells performed patriotic songs and ninth-grader Brooke Cecontey offered her rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner.”

Beach, who was in attendance with Deputy Mayor Michael Hawxhurst and members of the board of trustees, spoke to the thousands of residents and veterans in attendance about the importance of remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country.
