Crime watch: Lynbrook, East Rockaway

Arrests

A 63-year-old Lynbrook resident was arrested on Sept. 24 at 3:40 p.m. and charged with possession of a controlled substance on Whitehall Street.

After an investigation, a 25-year-old male from Jamaica, Queens, was arrested on Sept. 24 at 3:55 p.m. and charged with possession of a forged instrument.

A 36-year-old male from Woodmere was arrested on Sept. 25 at 10:45 p.m. after an investigation and charged with petit larceny for the theft of a Ring doorbell from a residence on Scranton Avenue.

On Sept. 25 at 12:20 p.m., Lynbrook police observed a 44-year-old male Lynbrook resident near the Lynbrook Long Island Rail Road train station. He was arrested, and police discovered more than four ounces of cocaine in his backpack. He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, false personation and an open felony warrant. As a result of the arrest, $4,000 was recovered.

A 27-year-old from Philadelphia, Penn., was arrested on Sept. 27 at 8:55 p.m. and charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana on Atlantic Avenue.

After Lynbrook detectives conducted an investigation, a 55-year-old from Hempstead, was arrested on Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. and charged with criminal impersonation, aggravated unlicensed operator, unregistered motor vehicle, uninsured motor vehicle, uninspected motor vehicle, two counts of identity theft and an open warrant for petit larceny.

On Oct. 4 at 11:43 a.m., a 25-year-old from Rosedale, Queens, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a forgery device, possession of a forged instrument, unlawful possession of marijuana, operating without a license and uninspected motor vehicle on Sunrise Highway. Also in the vehicle were a 36-year-old from Rosedale, Queens, who was charged with criminal possession of a forgery device, possession of a forged instrument and unlawful possession of marijuana; and a 38-year-old from Rosedale, Queens, who was charged with criminal possession of a forgery device, possession of a forged instrument and criminal possession of a controlled substance (heroin).

A 50-year-old male from Holtsville was arrested on Oct. 6 at 12:47 p.m. and charged with aggravated unlicensed operator on Sunrise Highway.

Grand larceny

An employee of the Hercules Laundry Corporation reported on Sept. 24 at 4 p.m. that an unknown suspect stole a Payflex HP credit card machine that was bolted to the wall inside the laundry room at 60 Hempstead Ave. The machine was last seen on Sept. 22 at 7 a.m. Total loss was nearly $3,000.

Criminal mischief

A resident of 9 Wood St. reported that on Sept. 30 between 1 a.m. and 11:25 a.m., an unknown person damaged the front glass storm door of his house. Total cost of the damage was $150.
