Editors note: Lynbrook historical odds and ends is a column that takes a look back at some interesting facts and events in the village from over the years.

 

On the night of Aug. 12, 1926, lightning struck the tower atop the Five Corners Building, sending splintered pieces of the flagpole flying all over the corners. The tower was never rebuilt.
