Lynbrook Mayor Alan Beach announced at the Nov. 20 village board meeting that Lieutenant Danny Dillon was named interim police chief because current Chief Joseph Neve is dealing with health issues.

“Danny is very competent and Chief Neve recommended him,” Beach said. “I’ve known Danny for 35 years, and I’m confident he will do a great job.”

Dillon has been with the Lynbrook Police Department for 28 years. He was unavailable for comment as of press time.

Beach did not disclose Neve’s illness, but said he had surgery in early November. He added that it would take about another month for him to recover and serve as chief again.
