Saturday’s Nor’easter featured tropical storm force winds wreaked havoc on Long Island, cutting power to thousands and knocking down trees.

The Long Island Power Authority and National Grid continued to work diligently to address downed power lines and restore power to customers affected by Saturday night’s treacherous storm.

Hurricane force winds and heavy rain interrupted service to approximately 241,000 customers on Long Island. As of 3:00 pm Sunday, power was been restored to about 146,000 or 60 percent of those affected customers. All available crews continue to work around the clock restoring the remaining outages, while Long Islanders benefit from off-Island manpower to supplement their in-house resources in support of the restoration effort.

Long duration outages are expected to last into the early part of this week. Customers should call 1-800-490-0075 to report an outage and to receive information updates.
