Mystery bag challenge

Teenagers in sixth- through 12-grade can create their own projects at the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library on March 16, at 6 p.m. Each teenager will receive a bag containing various items that he or she will need with which to create a project. Registration is required, with preference given to Valley Stream cardholders.

Poetry slam

Storm Watch!

Children in second- through sixth-grade can handle weather instruments and make an anemometer to take home at the Elmont Memorial Library on March 21 at 4:30 p.m. Registration is required.

Seals by the shoreline

Check out some the fascinating winter harbor seals that inhabit our waters during the final guided walk of the season along the Jones Beach shoreline, Sunday, March 18 1:30 p.m. Join a park naturalist on an hour and a half leisurely beach walk to an area where up to four species of seals can be observed.
