Local business owners Frank Pignataro and Joe Carusone will be recognized at the annual Lynbrook Community Chest Mayor’s Golf Outing on July 10 at the Seawane Country Club in Hewlett.

Pignataro is the co-owner and executive chef at River Mill Tavern & Tables on 100 Ocean Ave., and Carusone owns Vincent’s Pizza and Carvel, both located on Atlantic Avenue.

“We have two outstanding local restaurateurs as honorees who are supporting the outing, their family and friends and vendors joining the event,” said Jeff Greenfield, a member of the Lynbrook Golf Committee and partner at NGL Insurance Group, LLC in Lynbrook. “We look forward to a record-breaking day.”

Pignataro has a wealth of experience, serving as executive chef for many different restaurants across the South Shore, and helped launch River Mill in March 2015. He graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. and earned a bachelor’s degree in hotel restaurant management from St. John’s University in Queens.

A member of the Long Island American Culinary Federation Long Island Chapter since 2000, Pignataro has received many accolades over the years, including Chef of the Year in 2011.

Pignataro lives in Lynbrook with his wife, Lauren, and children, Luke and Cora. He is a member of the St. Raymond’s Monsignor Walsh Knights of Columbus. Pignataro also serves on the board of the Brendan and Liam Shanahan Foundation, which raises money to support families that have children with special medical needs, and actively works with the Quinn Madeline Foundation, which grants wishes for children ages 3 and under fighting rare genetic disorders.

Carusone’s family has been a stalwart of Lynbrook for decades. His father, grandfather and uncle opened up Jack’s Pizzeria in downtown Lynbrook in 1962, and his father later established Vincent’s Pizza in 1972.

After going through the Lynbrook public school system, Carusone attended La Salle Military Academy in Oakdale and went on to earn a degree in marketing and business management at St. John’s University before eventually taking over Vincent’s. He and his wife, Nicole, opened up a Carvel in Lynbrook in 2003. They have two children, Joseph and Luca.

The golf outing begins with registration and brunch from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Seawane Country Club at 1300 Club Drive in Hewlett. The golfing fun begins at noon. The event comes to a close with cocktails and dinner at 5 p.m.

Proceeds from the outing will benefit the Lynbrook Community Chest, which is an organization that provides assistance to residents in the Lynbrook community who are in need of help due to financial reasons or economic hardship.

Openings are still available for dinner and golf. Call (516) 599-1100 (ext. 122) to be a part of the golf outing.
