The soon-to-be ninth-graders were chosen from one of DRS’s largest pool of applicants in the school’s history.

After being introduced school officials, the young men took placement exams in algebra and Hebrew and were then treated to ice cream sundaes.

A game of concentric circles was played, where the students found themselves sitting across from peers they did not know, and were prompted to ask questions. After five minutes, the students rotated.

Then the boys were divided into groups for a unique egg drop competition. Each team was given a raw egg and several materials.

With the materials, the students were challenged to construct a contraption that would keep an egg from cracking when dropped from the DRS roof. Winning team members each received gift cards to Dunkin’ Donuts.
