Mercy Medical Center throws baby shower for expectant moms

The rainy weather did not stop dozens of expectant mothers from being treated to an afternoon of fun, information and giveaways at Mercy Medical Center during the hospital’s baby shower on May 13.

Visitors that attended the free open house met the staff of the family care, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and labor/delivery departments and learned about the different maternity facilities and childbirth classes being offered. Vendors were also on hand to provide information about child safety seats and other baby products and how to provide the best at-home care for babies.

“We really enjoy hosting this event each year to help support and educate our expecting mothers-to-be of all the resources and services that are available to them at Mercy Medical Center.” said nurse Debbiann Langan.

The hospital celebrated the moms-to-be by decorating the employee lounge with baby decorations and streamers and the staff generously provided a sheet cake, fruit and water for all to enjoy. There was also a raffle for dozens of baby gift baskets.

“It was amazing,” said visitor Helene St. Jean. “It was like heaven, from the decorations to the food, and the cake. Everyone was very friendly. I have never been to a hospital where the staff was so helpful.”

According to the hospital’s website, tours of Mercy Medical Center's newly-renovated maternity wing and labor, delivery, recovery rooms are conducted on the third Saturday of each month at 10 a.m.
