The greatest hits of The Allman Brothers Band will be celebrated for the second time by The Michael Allman Band at The Long Beach Inn this Sunday at 6 p.m.

There will be no cover charge for the special Father’s Day performance, said Pete Jacoutot, co-owner of the Inn.

Michael Allman is the son of the legendary Gregg Allman, a founding member of The Allman Brothers Band and a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee.

Michael Allman, a native of Daytona Beach, Fla., has toured all over the country with a repertoire consisting of a blend of roots, rock and blues. He performs original songs as well as covers of The Allman Brothers Band.

Jacoutot said Allman’s performance last year was incredible.

“If you were at last year’s show … if you closed your eyes, you felt like you were at an original Allman Brothers show,” he said.

No reservations are required to attend the show, though limited reservations are still available for tables on the Inn’s second floor.

Jacoutot said the popular West End bar and restaurant also prides itself in being a prolific live music venue showcasing local, regional and national talent. During his time at the Inn, Jacoutot has booked and hosted over 2,500 live bands, including G. Love, the frontman for the band G. Love & Special Sauce, who will be performing at the Inn on June 30 at 6:30 p.m.

G. Love is a Philadelphia-based singer and guitarist who plays a blend of blues, folk and hip-hop tunes. This will be his fifth annual summer show at the Inn, and Jacoutot said that the Inn “greatly appreciates” the artist’s desire to perform there this summer on his 25th anniversary tour, which includes performances all across the country.

Ron Artis II & The Truth, an up-and-coming band from Hawaii, will open for him.

The cover charge for G. Love’s show is $20, a performance that includes a collaboration between G. Love and Ron Artis II & The Truth.

The Inn’s own DJ XCEL, meanwhile, will play the after-show, followed by 3 AM, a band from Delaware that plays a lively mix of covers.

Jacoutot credits his ability to find national artists to play at the Inn to its state-of-the-art sound system and light show, as well as its unique two-story layout.

“Artists loves the cool vibe of the multi-level layout,” he said.

Jacoutot stressed the importance of Long Beach’s unique location and close proximity to New York City as a major draw for artists.

“A beach town is special to everybody,” he said. “Long Beach is a laid back community that allows artists to enjoy the beach in between their soundcheck and their performance — an opportunity that cannot be found just anywhere.”
