Miss Long Island hopefuls gathered at Molloy College in Rockville Centre last Sunday to vie for two titles, as Brentwood’s Briana Siaca earned Miss Long Island 2018 and Alexa Cox, of Central Islip, was crowned Miss Long Island Teen.

The pageant included residents from around Long Island, including Neila and Rhea Kalipersad, of East Meadow, Seaford’s Jillian Dunne, Kealee Hohmann, of Oyster Bay, and Valley Stream resident Stephanie Echeverry.

Echeverry placed fifth for Miss Long Island and Hohmann was the first runner-up in the teen competition. Dunne took home the Miss Photogenic Teen award.

In January, the 2018 queens will compete for the title of Miss New York USA and Miss New York Teen USA, a title that is no stranger to the Long Island pageants. Last year, Dix Hills resident Taylor Yaeger, Miss Long Island Teen 2017, placed fourth and West Hempstead’s Ashley Edwards, Miss Long Island 2017, placed top 20 out of nearly 200 women from across New York.
