On Wednesday, Nassau County police said members of the Nassau County Police Marine Bureau rescued a 60-year-old man who was stranded on a boat in Reynold’s Channel near Duck Point in Long Beach at around 7:30 a.m.

Police said a man called the bureau notifying them of his friend who was stuck in a marsh on a 20-foot long boat. The caller said he was stuck there since Tuesday at 3 p.m.

Members of the Marine Bureau found the man on the north side of Reynold’s Channel in his boat and unresponsive, hypothermic and shaking uncontrollably.

The Long Beach Fire Department transported the victim to South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside where he was treated for hypothermia.

Fire Chief Joe Miller said he believed that the man was a duck hunter who had mechanical issues with his boat.
