Six women considered to be making a difference were honored by the National Council of Jewish Women-Long Island sections at a luncheon at Temple Avodah in Oceanside on June 6.

Among the women were Fran Denny and Linda Gorin, mother and daughter, respectively who were recognized by the NCJW’s Lawrence-based Peninsula Section. Denny became involved since Gorin was active with the section’s Duffle Up and Back 2 School projects. Denny is vice president of fundraising and Gorin is the fundraising treasurer.

Also acknowledged for their volunteer efforts were Miriam Chatinover of the Lakeville Section, Elizabeth Dunton Levine and Joanne Levine Wikle of the South Shore Section and Mildred Becker of the Westbury Section.

“As we advocate throughout the year, we remember those family members who inspired us in the past and our current family members and friends who continue to inspire us,” said NCJW Long Island Section Chairwoman Jackie Fetner.
