New York American Water hosts art contest for local elementary school students

New York American Water is hosting its annual “Be Water Wise!” art contest for local elementary school students within their service territory. Students are encouraged to participate in the art contest and submit their drawings by April 13.
The project provides fifth grade students with the opportunity to express themselves creatively and learn more about the importance of conserving water — New York’s most precious natural resource.

For entry, art submissions must:

- Come from a fifth grade student
- Embrace the importance of water conservation
- Must be the student’s original work, on standard white paper, should not exceed 11”x17” in size (8.5”x11” preferred) in an acceptable media such as paint, colored pencils, ink, markers or pastels.
- Be completed, postmarked or received by April 13, 2018
- All submissions must be sent to: New York American Water, Attn: Be Water Wise! Art Contest, 60 Brooklyn Ave. Merrick, NY 11566

Contest winners are announced in May, and will be awarded for their artistic talents, creativity and success in conveying a water conservation theme. Winners will receive American Express gift cards: $100 for first place, $50 for second, and $25 for third. All other participants will receive a certificate from New York American Water and a “Be Water Be Wise” reusable water bottle.
