Long Beach police arrested a New Jersey man on Sunday after they said he struck a pedestrian in the West End with his car while driving intoxicated.

Police officers Rosemarie Rooney and John Leddy arrested Larry D. Wooten, 50, of Newark, N.J., on May 7 after he allegedly hit a 46-year-old woman as she walked across the intersection of Virginia Avenue and West Beech Street a little after midnight.

The woman sustained minor injuries, according to Lt. Eric Cregeen.

Wooten — who police said was intoxicated when he struck the woman — has been arrested and convicted for DWI six times in the past.

Additionally, Wooten’s license has been suspended and revoked eight times.

Wooten was arrested on two felony DWI charges with previous convictions, operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license, and circumventing an interlock device.

He was arraigned before Long Beach City Court Judge Frank Dikranis on May 8 and was remanded to Nassau County jail where he will remain until sentencing.
