The Oceanside School District’s $150 million 2017-18 budget easily passed on Tuesday by a vote of 1,202 to 369.

Next year’s spending plan — about $2.9 million, or 1.97 percent, larger than the current one — took advantage of its allowable tax levy increase of 2.15 percent. Most notably, the district is putting money aside to repurpose a space in the high school for its thespian troupe. It is also purchasing a handful of new school vehicles, and hiring a new business instructor for its virtual enterprise program.

Three Board of Education incumbents ran unopposed this year; Sandie Schoell, Donald Maresca and Mary Jane McGrath-Mulhern each retained their seats. Maresca collected 1,265 votes, Schoell garnered 1,231 and McGrath-Mulhern finished with 1,188.

The Oceanside Library’s $4.5 million budget also passed, as 1,263 residents voted for it, and 301 against it.
