Paintings aim to spread cheer at Seaford High

A little extra positivity will greet Seaford High School students on September 4, in the form of inspirational messages.

A group of volunteers — former students and parents — came together on Aug. 14 to help spread some positive energy to welcome their peers to the first day of school.

They painted inspirational messages in a set of bathrooms at the high school, following the lead of Seaford Middle and Manor Elementary Schools, which were the recipients of similar inspirational paintings late last semester. There, the messages were painted in boy’s and girl’s rooms on the first floor.

It all falls under Project #ChooseKind.

“We’re giving the students inspirational messages and bringing some positivity to the school,” said project coordinator Donna Jebaily. “There will always be a little message to boost them up.”

Volunteers included students Kim Draws, Jessica Kofod, Marissa Mele and Max Newman, former student Ciara Charlotte and parents Jennifer Bello, Jen Cavalluzzo, Corinne Graff, Maureen Mele, Laura Moakley-Clancy and Melissa Sacco.

There were short and long messages such as “Dream the impossible,” “You got this,” “Life is tough, but so are you” and “Let your smile change the world, but don’t let the world change your smile.”
