Police: Armored truck goes missing, found nearby

Police report that an armored truck parked outside of the Valley Stream HSBC branch on Sunrise Highway in Valley Stream was reported missing early on Friday. The truck was later found a few hundred feet away on South Central Avenue.

A Nassau County police spokesman said the truck driver and an associate had reported the vehicle missing at 2:50 a.m. when, after leaving it unattended while the two made a cash delivery to the bank’s ATM, someone jumped in and drove off. The truck was found shortly before sunset, according to social media reports. The spokesman had no further details, citing an ongoing police investigation into the culprit and whether any money was stolen.

Photos on social media show the truck with GardaWorld insignia, an international armored truck cash delivery service. A representative for neither GardaWorld nor HSBC could be immediately reached for comment.
