Police: Freeport man accused of kidnapping and stabbing local woman arrested

A Freeport man, Thomas Beeks, 32 from Dean Street was arrested in Roosevelt on Thursday for allegedly kidnapping and stabbing an unidentified 21-year-old woman on April 14.

According to detectives, Beeks and the woman were arguing in her car that morning when he pulled out a knife and stabbed her in the leg. Beeks then ordered the woman to drive to his house where he punched her in the eye and threatened her with scissors. Eventually, Beeks allowed the woman to drive to the hospital to get treated for her injuries. He fled the hospital in the women’s car.

Beeks is charged with kidnapping in the second degree, assault in the first degree, menacing in the second degree, petit larceny, unauthorized use of a vehicle, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, aggravated family offense and assault in the third degree. He was arraigned on May 4 at First District Court, Hempstead.

His bail was set at $750,000. He has also signed an order of protection to stay away from the victim. Beeks' attorney information was not available at press time on Saturday morning.
