Police: Man shot at outside his home in Elmont

Police are searching for a man who allegedly fired multiple shots at another man in an Elmont neighborhood late Sunday night.

According to Nassau County police, a 40-year-old Hoffman Avenue man man went outside to get in his car, then decided to go back indoors. As he was walking toward his house, police said, he saw a man standing behind a neighbor’s bush brandishing a handgun.

The armed man fired multiple rounds at the victim, striking his vehicle several times, and the victim fled on foot through a neighboring yard, police said.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall, of an average build and wearing a dark grey hooded sweatshirt.
