Posted

Police reported that on the night of Dec. 24 jewelry was removed from a display case at the Oceanside Costco.

Officers from the Fourth Precinct responded to an alarm at the Hampton Road wholesale store at 10:57 p.m. and upon arriving noticed that a large jewelry display case had been pried open and that jewelry was missing. Police said that after a search, they did not find anyone in the building.

Detectives reported that store surveillance footage showed a six-foot white, bearded man wearing all-black clothes prying the display case open before loading the jewelry into a blue bag before leaving the store, heading in an unknown direction. Another man, also described as roughly six feet tall, and wearing a black leather coat was seen with the bearded man, walking around the display case. He too was then seen leaving the store, heading in an unknown direction.

An investigation is ongoing. Police ask that if anyone has information regarding the burglary to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at (800) 244-8477.
