Police respond to reported gunshot in Elmont

Heavily armed members of the Nassau County Police Department’s Bureau of Special Operations responded to a Clay Street home in Elmont on April 8 after neighbors reported hearing gunfire in the area.

Police were notified of residents on Clay Street hearing what they believed to be a gunshot around 5 p.m. on April 7. After an investigation, police arrived the next day with heavily armed officers in armored vehicles after learning the source of the gunshot. Police then arrested the suspect without incident.

A police spokesperson said that the identity of the suspect was being withheld until charges are issued.
