The Malverne Public Library is proud to support the Long Island Volunteer Center’s Prom Boutique gown giveaway, now in its 24th year. The library is currently accepting donations of new or gently used prom gowns, bridesmaid’s dresses and accessories that include dressy shoes, evening bags and costume jewelry, as well as sheets for storing the dresses. The collection is ongoing at the library until March 22.
The LIVC, partnering with Nassau Community College, provides Prom dresses free of charge to girls of families across Long Island who cannot absorb the expense of a new gown for their prom, graduation or awards ceremony.
Guidance counselors, social workers, and at-risk youth coordinators confidentially refer the students to this all-volunteer community service program. Visit LIVC's website for more details on the Prom Boutique.
