Rose Laurino Napolitano Presti, a longtime Valley Stream resident, died on April 29 at the Grand Pavilion Nursing Home in Rockville Centre. She was 103.

Presti was born on July 1, 1913, to Frank and Adelaide (Ciletti) Laurino. She married Leonard Napolitano in 1937, in Brooklyn, where they lived until 1957, when they moved to Valley Stream. Napolitano died in 1973, and Presti remarried Morris “Mario” Presti in 1988. She then became part of his family of three children, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Since 2012, they shared a room at the Grand Pavilion until Mario’s death this February.

Rose raised four children and loved spending time with eight grandchildren of her own. She enjoyed serving her Italian cooking to friends and family, and participating in social activities that were organized by her church or community groups. Her favorite activity was dancing.

Presti is survived by her children, Robert Napolitano, Maria (Wayne) Grau and Leonard Napolitano, Jr.; her seven grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first child Lorinda Bellone and her grandson Evan Grau.

A visitation was held at Moore Funeral Home, at 54 Jamaica Avenue in Valley Stream on May 5. A funeral service was held at Holy Name of Mary Church, located at 55 East Jamaica Avenue in Valley Stream on May 6. A burial service followed at the funeral at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Presti. Donations can be made at alz.org.
