Santa Claus made a special stop at Wantagh Park last weekend to meet local folks.
Santa in the Park, a free holiday event, was held on Dec. 2. The Wantagh Bay Yacht Club and the Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums sponsored the program.
Wantagh Fire Department members and Nassau County Legislator Steve Rhoads — a volunteer himself — escorted Jolly Old Saint Nick to the park in a fire truck. Families lined up outside of the administration building to meet the big man.
Children had the chance to speak with Santa, write him letters and give him their Christmas wish lists while their parents took festive photographs. Elves handed out toys, candy, cookies and hot chocolate.
