Of the 120 young men who graduated from Wantagh High School on June 21, at least 15 are or are on the way to becoming Eagle Scouts. Here is a look at all 15 graduates:
1. Nicholas Cammarata
Project: Refurbished 500-foot nature trail for Wantagh Preservation Society; put French drain at entrance of trail to lessen effects of rain runoff; repainted original post office museum.
College: Hofstra University to study Accounting.
2. Freddy Parola
Project: Installed handicap-accessible ramp at entrance of Bellmore Presbyterian Church.
College: Binghamton University to study Political Science.
3. Peter Rowan
Project: Refurbished memorial in Anchor Park in Massapequa dedicated to Gary R. Farley, a police officer who died in the line of service.
College: American University to study Political Science.
4. Thomas Kittelberger
Project: Built benches for The Plattduetsche Retirement Home in Franklin Square.
College: University of New Haven to study Electrical Engineering.
5. Michael Mitchell
Project: Painted room in Christ Lutheran Church, where troop holds their meetings.
College: Binghamton University to study Math.
6. Ethan Rockitter
Project: Restored trail and added trail markers at the Roosevelt Preserve on Elizabeth Street in Roosevelt.
College: Binghamton University to study biology.
7. Brian Klotsche
Project: Renovated prayer garden at St. Frances de Chantal Church
College: Adelphi University to study Accounting.
8. Benjamin Coccia
Project: Constructed vegetable garden for Hagerdorn Little Village School: Jack and Joel Center for Special Children.
College: Stevens Institute of Technology in NJ to study Biomedical Engineering.
9. Michael Fillizola
Project: Installed new “Welcome to Wantagh” sign on Jerusalem Ave., and planted new plants around it.
College: Penn State University to study Architecture.
10. Stephen Vaiano
Project: Erected 25-foot flag pole at Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church and set up the annual church clean-up.
College: University of Massachusetts Amhurst to study Sustainable Horticulture and Sustainable Food and Farming.
11. Ryan Krieger
Project: Completed perennial garden at Wantagh High School
College: Rochester Institute of Technology to study Biology.
12. Logan von Runnen
Project: Re-did Flower Room at St. Frances de Chantel church, including making shelves for flowers of each season and metal hangers for holiday wreaths.
College: SUNY Maritime to study Marine Transportation.
13. Christopher Ahern
Project: Restored neglected woodland area at Takapusha Preserve & Museum.
College: University of Buffalo to study Business Management.
14. Matthew Seaman
Project: Built and installed signs behind the Wantagh Train Museum.
College: Nassau Community College to study Criminal Justice.
15. Nick Sadocha
Project: Replaced shelving and enclosed it with sliding door at Mary Brennan Soup Kitchen in Hempstead.
College: West Chester University to study Nursing.
