Seaford honors fallen for Memorial Day

Seaford residents honored those who made the ultimate sacrifice to their country on Memorial Day with a parade led by Seaford American Legion Post 1132. The parade concluded at the Seaford Middle School, where the American Legion gave a salute to fallen soldiers.

Another ceremony was held at the Seaford train station's World War I Memorial. Elsewhere in the hamlet, St. William the Abbot had a field of honor on display outside its school to honor those veterans related to parishioners.

The parochial school held their own Memorial Day Remembrance ceremony on May 25 around the school’s freshly planted field of honor. Each flag in the field bore the name of a fallen veteran, most of whom were from their immediate families or were friends.

During the remembrance ceremony, Principal Elizabeth Bricker offered thanks to the veterans, both those at the event and those who have died. Members of the School administration, faculty, students and families in attendance prayed for both active and fallen military personnel and their families.
