Locals gathered at Sip This on Rockaway Avenue on Dec. 26 to boast their knowledge of the popular NBC television show “The Office,” at the coffee shop’s semi-regular trivia night, which has blossomed into a community staple.
“It’s becoming more of a regular thing for us,” said employee Anthony Natoli.
Natoli said the most recent iteration of the game night was well attended, and attracted both fans of the show and trivia alike. He said the goal is to continue to draw customers in, grow the shop’s events and build on the sense of community that local events create.
“It gets pretty competitive,” he said. “There’s a lot of screaming.”
The cost for trivia night is $10 per team, and winners are given small prizes. Natoli said he knew of people who attended from Oceanside, Brooklyn and surrounding neighborhoods, but he estimated that “most people were from Valley Stream.”
The next trivia night will take place at Sip This on Monday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. The topic is the NBC television show “Friends.”
