State Assemblywoman Judy Griffin honors Women of Distinction from Malverne, West Hempstead

State Assemblywoman Judy Griffin gathered 10 outstanding Long Island women at the East Rockaway Memorial Park Bandshell for her inaugural Women of Distinction awards ceremony on Aug. 7.
“Today is dedicated to women within our vibrant community who consistently show up and strive to make a positive impact in their community,” Griffin said in a news release. “This year, I am happy to recognize these honorees who have gone above and beyond and continue to be a light within their respective communities and a role model to all. Their compassion, civic mindfulness, leadership, initiative and commitment to service conveys their generous contribution to our community. From advocating for womens’ rights and educating our youth to promoting positive activities for at risk youth, protecting families, and giving wholeheartedly to see growth in their communities — these women are the definition of courageous.”
Honorees included: Maria Casini, of Malverne; Rachel Fryman, of West Hempstead; Kim Taylor, of Baldwin; Mary Murphy, of East Rockaway; Gaby Castillo, of Freeport; Celina Bialt, of Hewlett; Leslie Deninno, of Lynbrook; Janet Pearsall, of Oceanside, Tjuana Evans, of Rockville Centre; and Trish Schields, of South Hempstead.
Griffin was joined by East Rockaway Mayor Bruno Romano, Michelle Landerer, who sang the National Anthem, and The Rev. Ray Longwood, of the Experience Vineyard Church, who delivered the Invocation.
