Streetscape improvements coming to Lynbrook

Brick sidewalks and ornamental lighting will be added to Exeter Avenue and Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook thanks to a $225,000 grant the village received from Nassau County.

The work will be complete by June 2018, according to Village Spokeswoman Leslie Rothschild.

Lynbrook village officials applied for the grant in April, and the county approved it in September. At the village board meeting on Oct. 23, the board of trustees granted Village Clerk John Giordano authorization to sign the grant contract. According to the contract, the village will use money from its budget to fund the improvements, and will be reimbursed by the county.

In a statement, Mayor Alan Beach said that he and the Board of Trustees “were very pleased that the grant became a reality as we are continuing to move forward every day with continued revitalization and beautification throughout the Village of Lynbrook.”
